Attune

Somatic skills for relational attunement and nervous system care rooted in Somatic Experiencing for caring folks who want to build the capacity to connect deeper in relationships, so they can engage with life from a place of integrity.

Hello, fellow helper!

You take care of everyone and rarely ask for anything in return.

I see you out there working long hours and returning home exhausted without a plan for your own needs.

I know, because I have the same patterns.

Thing is, these “people pleasing” or “fawning” tendencies (that are brutally attacked in pop-psychology - ugh) are formed early in life, from a sincere place.

We learned very early that we needed to solidify our purpose amongst our family to feel a sense of belonging.

Oof, it still hurts to name.

The thing is, if we continue to relate from a place of self-abandonment, we are not fully engaging from an authentic place.

Authentic meaning: our true nature, or from a place of personal vitality. Who we truly are and what we really need to preserve that essence.

We are connecting from a place of outer extension, away from our center, with a frantic interest in maintaining the harmony of the moment with the people present.

We forget ourselves for the sake of others.

We don’t resource our own aliveness.

And we certainly don’t know how to reach out for support, without also draining our limited well, because we don’t know how to receive without exchange.

Uncomfy truth: caregiving isn’t an equitable relationship style; it’s a job.

It’s time to call your power back in and connect from your center, because you deserve to know what it feels like to live in your body fully in this moment in time.

This is where body-based connection comes in.

Attunement doesn’t require analyzing or alienating language. This is simply the act of feeling into a connection within a relationship (which takes at least two, in this case, it’s you and your body).

It’s the sensation that arises before any word is spoken and our body’s subtle response to a situation, seconds before our mind takes over.

This experience is worth staying with.

That moment before responding with narratives provides so much information beyond words. So much.

This is the space I invite you to join me in.

Together, we explore this moment almost as if we are taking a snapshot and describing the picture in great detail.

We slow down enough to notice the smallest, quietest signals from the body at a pace that opens up possibilities for transformation and look for the places that provide just enough space to fine-tune and adapt in a new way.

Slowly, we tend to wounds, build new pathways, and create new realities, so no part of you is left behind.

Healing happens in relationship, we practice together.

In collaboration, we build practices that develop a deeper connection to the body and establish a stronger foundation that allows you to move through the world in a more centered and connected way.

As someone who has been a helper for nearly my entire life, this is the care I take.

I work with somatic practitioners who observe and reflect on the patterns that I miss in my own system, provide compassionate feedback, and offer practices centered on choice.

These practices provide a compassionate viewpoint of my patterns and an opportunity for choice and change based on my own personal values.

I find that these methods, based on Somatic Experiencing frameworks, have provided a way of connecting with loved ones that allows me to be with all my parts (down to the smallest, quietest expressions) while remaining open to receiving input from others.

Plus, it feels like riding a bike - only a little challenging at first, but the muscle memory comes back like I never left.

This stuff is human-centered and based in our first language: sensation.

“Rachel is sensitive, intuitive, informative and comforting. They offered movement that I could carry with me outside of our session to continue to support my body. I’m so thankful that healers like this exist and grateful to have been the recipient of her care.”

We may be a good fit if you’re looking for:

curious inquiry and compassionate validation

I bring my curious and playful nature into each session in hopes of finding an easeful path towards clarifying and highlighting your own inherent wisdom. I also know very well how difficult it is to dig deep and find compassion for the parts of our selves that feel like the culprit. In those moments of facing a challenge, I am right there to remind you that your body holds far more than the “score”. Joy, pleasure, and ease are just waiting to be noticed.

responsive attention and trauma awareness

All of my offerings are aimed at tending to the nervous system with awareness of the individual’s experience, needs, and boundaries. In addition, I want to meet you where you’re at in each moment. This means we can adapt our plan to suit your needs before, during, and after the session. I suggest various props, tools, techniques, and approaches to a session so that we can create a container that looks like care to you.

a steady presence that centers relationship

I think you might already know how incredibly important relationships are in a therapeutic space. With the right person, we feel like co-regulation is a breeze, a sense of safety might be more accessible, and we feel hopeful that we can finally settle and soften with a witness. This sense of being seen and heard is key to our growth. I think you might also know that relationship building and growth take time. Please know, I am here for the slow and steady.

“Rachel is the most thoughtful practitioner I’ve had the experience of working with! It’s refreshing to find someone who integrates movement with body work, and introduces healing practices in this particular way. They are clearly knowledgeable and at the same time they are creative and kind in their work. I honestly couldn’t recommend them more.”

This is post traumatic growth

This work takes what you’ve learned in therapeutic modalities and directs you towards the changes you’ve been wanting to make, all while aligning with your needs, affirming your values, and holding your integrity.

What this work is

(and isn’t)

What it is:

  • Somatic support for big-hearted individuals feeling disjointed and overextended in relationships

  • A longer program with no sense of urgency, that provides plenty of space for integration

  • A vehicle that moves you out of relational freeze, and into a warm connection

  • A relationship-based, body-centered space to build trust with self again

  • A practical, grounded experience of what it means to live your values without self-abandoning

What it’s not:

  • Couples counseling, psychotherapy, or crisis work

  • The answer to “healing” or “trauma release.”

  • Mentorship (if that’s what you’re looking for - head to Cultivate)

  • Not passive energetics or new age performance

  • Not a “just sit with it” approach — there is process, depth, and movement here

My Approach Includes:

❋ Somatic Experiencing techniques that establish coherence

❋ Neuro-centric practices aimed at bodily connection

❋ Positive Psychology and mindfulness frameworks

❋ Rituals centered on our interconnected relationship with earth

❋ Processes informed by Attachment Styles and Parts-Work

❋ Interwoven focus on Feminist and Humanistic Theory

A map of where we can go.

Sessions 1-3

RETURN TO BODY WITH RESOURCES.

We begin our work together by cultivating a source of nourishing support for the work ahead.

This is the part where we build a foundation that prioritizes your joy!

Sessions 4-6

BUILD BOUNDARIES AND EVALUATE NEEDS.

From a supported place, we can move to define exactly what is needed for your nervous system to access even more ease by building structure around your integrity.

You deserve protection and preservation, friend.

Sessions 7-9

DEVELOP DEEPER CAPACITY.

Once a sense of stability has been established, our sessions continue by integrating challenges head-on from a place of curiosity, so that you can grow larger than your patterned activations.

Enter the mud and shadow.

Sessions 10-12

DEEP DIVE.

Moving forward, we dive even deeper by working with patterns and subtle responses in order to redefine how you show up in your relationships.

This is the part where you fine-tune your connection to body, self, and others.

This offering is great for people who:

  • are deeply caring individuals feeling overextended, and ready to connect from a centered, non-extractive place

  • identify as a woman or LGBTQ+ and want to advocate for personal agency without losing connection with loved ones

  • are ready to dip into their aliveness, but need help moving out of freeze and into engagement

  • want to develop a somatics practice on a deeper level that goes beyond concepts and into lived experience

  • were raised in a conservative, evangelical environment and want to develop a connection with their body and expand beyond the harmful religious-based shame that kept them disoriented to their own lived experience

  • want to build greater capacity to hold space for big emotions without being mutually activated by loved ones, clients, or community

  • have done the therapy thing, and have the language to describe their emotions, sensations, and overall internal experience, but want to feel a shift in their body

  • have not done the therapy thing, and want to develop the language to describe their emotions, sensations, and overall internal experience, to feel a shift in their body

  • identify as sensitive, or boundary-fatigued — and need a space that feels like home, that allows gentle expansion at the right pace

“Rachel makes somatics make sense with practical applications. 10/10 recommended to anyone looking to tune into their personal wisdom.”
